Dr. Marilyn Montgomery

Professor, Author, Consultant

Dr. Marilyn Montgomery (aka Dr. M) is Founder and Director of Wellspring Development. Wellspring Development is an education and consulting practice for counselors and therapist seeking continuing education, and professional development services.

For over 20 years, Dr. Montgomery has taught students on campuses and online, in universities across the country.

Dr. Montgomery holds an M.S. in Curriculum and Instruction, and an M.Ed. in Counselor Education. She received a PhD in Human Development and Family Studies from Texas Tech University.

Recognition and awards for teaching and curriculum development include Capella University’s Outstanding Faculty of the Year (2020) and the Stephen Shank Award for Significant Contribution to Learner Success.

Dr. Montgomery is a National Certified Counselor (NCC) with the National Board for Certified Counselors. She is also a Certified Consultant with the Barrett Cultural Values Centre, a Board Certified Coach (CCE), and a Jack Canfield Certified Trainer.

Dr. Montgomery is co-author of Theories of Counseling and Therapy, and Building Bridges with Parents: Tools and Techniques for Counselors. She has published over 70 research articles in notable academic journals.
